A craving is a spike, not a straight line. Something, a place, a feeling, a habit, tells your brain to expect a reward, and wanting floods in fast. Left alone, most cravings peak within a few minutes and fade within twenty to thirty, even though in the moment it feels like it's only going to get worse.
You can't really think your way out of a craving, because it isn't a thinking problem. Slow breathing calms the part of your nervous system driving the urge. Tapping gives that same restless energy somewhere else to go. Neither one fights the craving directly, they just buy it time to pass on its own.
